My name is Bubacarr Barry , but you my call me Bob. For 17 years I am a professional birdwatcher.
My whole life so far, revolves around birds, the qualities I inherited from my uncle.
In The Gambia they are many birds to see of various species.At the coast many seabirds.On and beside the river, herons, kingfishers, wading birds. Inland are birds of prey, etc. etc.
The last count about 560 species.
Because there are no large mammals in Gambia. We are very happy with this variety of birds .
You can see birds all year round, but most birds can be seen from October to March.
For us with a pleasant temperature of around 30 degrees.
The winter guests from Europe mix with the Gambian, so many are present during this period .
Mid-June til mid-October it is rainy season, the temperatures rise to 40 degrees.
The best time for birding is in the morning, and late in the afternoon. For taking pictures, this is the “golden” moment.
To see so many species is an experience in itself .
So your wishes to see many birds is possible in The Gambia.
I have made many bird friends happy, they say so themselves, and I will not disappoint you.
